May 6, 2021

It has been a busy month at KMH International. 4 players-Athina Lexa (Thessaloniki, Greece), Xanthippi Karatasiou (Katerini, Greece), Benthe Versteeg (Amsterdam, Netherlands), and Sofie Olsen (Oberanven, Luxembourg) have all signed National Letters of Intent for the 2021-2022 season. All 4 of these young women are outstanding people and students.

Athina Lexa and Xanthippi Karatasiou have both signed with Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Lexa, who plays for PAOK WBC in Greece's A1 Division, is a 5'9 point guard who brings high level international experience to the Golden Griffins. She has competed for Greece on the U16 and U18 teams at the FIBA European Championships. Lexa is an all around player who will provide the Griffs with pinpoint passing and outside shooting. She is also a very good defender. Karatasiou is a 5'10 versatile guard who has also competed for Greece in the U16 and U18 European Championships. Karatasiou, who played for Pierikos Archelaos WBC, is a proven scorer who plays with a high motor for 40 minutes. She is also a creative passer. Besides being talented players, Lexa and Karatasiou are both humble, hard working young women. They come from great families and were absolute pleasures to work with. It will be exciting to see the impact this Greek duo makes at Canisius. They will continue the legacy of other great Greek women's players that have played in the United States such as Artemis Spanou and Anna Niki Stamolamprou (Robert Morris).

Benthe Versteeg has signed on to be a member of the Sacramento State University basketball program. The Hornets, who play in the Big Sky conference, are now led by First Year Head Coach Mark Campbell. Versteeg is an extremely athletic and versatile guard. The 5'9 Versteeg currently plays for the Landslake Lions in the Dutch 1st Division. Benthe's speed and ability to drive to the hoop will be big assets for the Sacramento State program.

Sofie Olsen has signed at Division 2 D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY. The Saints are in their second year of transitioning from Division 3. Olsen is a long 6'1 forward who can play multiple positions. She is a skilled passer with a great feel for the game. Her length allows her to be a factor defensively. Olsen has competed for Luxembourg at the U18 European Championships. Sofie will be the first European player in the history of the D'Youville program.
